Playing up an Age Group and One
Cent Charge |
|
| |
All players are registered
within their "real" age group; the online
registration system calculates that based on the
player's birthdate. So when you register -
you will only see the registration "divisions"
for your actual age group but one of the first
questions that you will be asked is if you want
to "play up".)
If you want your child to play
up an age group - choose the play-up age group
that you want. There is an additional
charge for a play-up and it is determined by
what the fee is for the age group you select.
For example, a U8 playing up to U9 Rec will have
a charge of $20 (U8 Fee is $60, U9 Fee is $80.
But a U6 playing up to U7, will only see a one
cent ($.01) charge. A U10 Travel Player
playing up to U11 Travel will see a one cent
($0.01) charge. For the system to list
the play-up request on your receipt there must
be a charge.
The other case where you will
see a one cent charge is for complete uniform
sets - the complete travel uniform is $70 but so
that you can see the sizes of the shorts and
socks on your receipt - the jerseys cost $69.98;
the shorts cost $.01; and the socks cost $.01.
DO NOT USE the complete uniform socks and
shorts to order replacements - it WILL NOT work.

How do I pay?
If you are trying to figure out whether to do
online registration or walk-in registration, here are some hints
that may help you decide.
You should go through the online registration
process regardless of whether you are going to come to the
walk-in registration. Because you will be registered at
the walk-in using the online system on a club provided laptop.
Take the registration as far as you can and that meets your
needs and requirements. It will make the walk-in
experience much easier.
NOTE : YOU ARE NOT
REALLY REGISTERED UNTIL YOUR ACCOUNT IS PAID IN FULL
Payment - if you don't want to use a
credit card to pay - then your only option is to contact the
WBSC Registrar, Diana Miller ( email:
wbsoccerregistrar@comcast.net, phone: 651-429-1820) for
assistance. Register in the online system up to the
point where you have to check out. Do it for all of
your players.
Scholarships - First step, complete the registration
steps up to the point of checkout. Then you can either
contact the club by following the instructions on the
scholarship page. If you are only granted a partial
scholarship - you will need to go into the system and
complete payment on your account. (Note: there are
only limited funds available for the fall)
What Soccer
Age is My Child?
The soccer year runs from Aug 1 to July 31.
So Fall 2008 and Summer 2009 are one soccer season. One
quick way to determine your child's soccer age is to ask
yourself what age is my child on July 31 of this year - if they
are 10 on July 31 - then they are a U10.

Rec or Travel?
There are two soccer programs available in the fall - WBSC/MYSA Travel
Soccer (U9 - U14) and the recreational program offered through the Community
Services Department of the White Bear Lake Area Schools (K-6); there
is an overlap in the programs at the U9 - U11 ages.
The Travel Program is run by the White Bear Soccer Club.
Teams generally play in MYSA's East District which includes the Mahtomedi
Soccer Club, Hastings, Woodbury, NESA (Maplewood, Oakdale), Blackhawks (St.
Paul), Cottage Grove, East Ridge (Woodbury/Cottage Grove), Inver Grove
Heights, St Croix Soccer Club (Stillwater) and several western Wisconsin
communities (Hudson, River Falls, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Menomonie).
Games are played on Saturday and Sundays from the first Saturday after Labor
Day to mid-October. There is a jamboree for U9/U10 Teams held in
mid-September and a State Tournament for U11 - U14 teams held in mid to late
October (usually MEA weekend). Registrations are due by August 1.
The Rec Program is organized by the White Bear Lake Area Schools
Community Services Department. Leagues are by school grade.
Games are generally played on Saturdays in the White Bear Lake area.
There is a limit of the number of summer travel players that can be on the
teams at Grades 3 - 6. Play starts the first weekend after Labor Day
and goes until late October, early November. There is an end of the
season tournament. Registrations are due by August 5.
